Tips on how to properly care for gold jewelry

The vacation is planned and the pool is waiting, but should the jewelry be worn in the water?

The question often arises as to whether jewelry can be worn to pool events without any problems? Or whether it is actually harmful to wear the bracelet or necklace as usual when swimming in chlorinated water? The truth is that your precious pieces will be grateful if you give them a little break for these occasions.

Our pieces of jewelry are made from the highest quality surgical stainless steel and are given the golden color we value so much thanks to 18-carat gold plating. So that the pieces of jewelry do not lose their shine after a while, we would like to give you a few tips on how to best care for your jewelry.

Tip 1:

Avoid contact between chlorine water and your gold-plated jewelry. Chlorine from the swimming pool can cause jewelry to discolor and lose its shine. The chlorine in the swimming pool can not only lead to discoloration, but also to what is known as corrosion:
The chlorine may react with the metals mixed with the gold and may cause decomposition. This could damage your chain and cause the shine to fade. Therefore, we recommend that you take off your jewelry before jumping into the swimming pool :)

Tip 2:

You should also not let your jewelry come into contact with creams, perfumes or cleaning products, as the chemical components of these products severely attack the gold coating. To avoid this, do not wear your jewelry while cleaning and wear it after applying perfume and cream. When you remove it, wipe it with a damp cloth and store it in a cool, dry place.

Tip 3:

Furthermore, a few principles for cleaning your jewelry.
To clean, use a non-abrasive microfiber cloth and lukewarm water to remove any residue that may have accumulated during wear. Sweat residue and small skin particles that cover the jewelry are normal and not uncommon, so you should generally wash your jewelry thoroughly with lukewarm water after each wear. If you have stubborn dirt, you can also use a little dish soap.
